What Knowingo is
Knowingo publishes original summaries of published books, in an app for iPhone, an app for Android available through Google Play, and a web reader at read.knowingo.online. A summary is our own writing about a book. It is not the book, it is not an extract of the book, and it does not replace buying the book.
The iPhone app is also licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which the iPhone app links to. That agreement applies to the iPhone app only.
Your account
You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with your email address. You are responsible for the account you sign in with, and for keeping its password and sign in codes to yourself. One account is for one person. Do not share credentials, and do not try to reach content your account has not been given.
What you may do
Read, highlight and quote briefly with attribution to Knowingo and to the book. What you may not do: copy summaries in bulk, republish them, sell them, feed them into a product that competes with this one, or use automated tools to download the catalogue.
Subscriptions
Knowingo Reading is sold monthly or yearly: in the iPhone app through the App Store, in the Android app through Google Play, and on the web at read.knowingo.online through Stripe. One subscription opens every book in all three places. Each subscription is billed, managed and refunded where it was bought, under that store's terms, and you are never sold a second one while one is running. Deleting your Knowingo account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.
Bought in the iPhone app
- The price shown in the app at the moment of purchase is the price that applies.
- A subscription renews automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Renewal is charged to your Apple account within 24 hours before the new period starts.
- Manage and cancel in your Apple account settings. We cannot cancel it for you, because Apple holds the billing relationship.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policy. When Apple tells us a purchase was refunded, your subscription ends.
Bought in the Android app
- Google Play takes the payment and bills your Google Play account. The price Google Play shows before you confirm is the price that applies.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it.
- Manage and cancel in Google Play, under Payments and subscriptions. We cannot cancel it for you, because Google holds the billing relationship. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep every book until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play under Google Play's refund policy. When Google confirms a full refund of the latest payment, your subscription ends and stops renewing.
- We never see your card or your other Google payment details.
Bought on the web
- Stripe takes the payment. The price shown before you pay is the price that applies. Stripe may charge it in your local currency at the day's exchange rate, and tax is added where the law requires it.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it, and we email you a receipt.
- Cancel any time from the account page. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep every book until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Payments are not refunded, in full or for the unused part of a period, except where the law where you live requires it.
- If a renewal cannot be charged, we email you and Stripe tries again for a short time. If it still cannot be charged, the subscription ends.
- We never see your full card number. We keep the card brand, its last four digits and a link to each receipt so the account page can show them.
Prices and price changes
- We may change prices. A new price applies to new subscriptions. A subscription you already hold keeps the price you joined at for as long as it renews without a break.
- If you cancel and subscribe again later, or switch between monthly and yearly, the price of that plan at that time applies.
- On 1 December 2026 prices rise to US$4.99 a month and US$39.99 a year on the web, and to the App Store's and Google Play's equivalent in each country. Subscriptions started before then keep their price on the terms above.
What we publish, and what we cannot promise
Summaries pass an automated fidelity check before publication, and a draft that fails does not reach readers. That is a real gate and we describe it honestly, but it is not a promise that every sentence is free of error. Nothing here is professional, financial, legal or medical advice. Read the book before you act on the book.
The catalogue changes
Titles can be added or withdrawn, including for rights reasons. Knowingo Reading is access to what is published while your subscription runs, rather than a permanent licence to a particular title.
Suspension
We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, that abuses the service, or that we are required to suspend. When an account is suspended, protected content closes immediately. Write to us if you believe it was a mistake.
No warranty, and limits
The service is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that it is available without interruption or free of faults. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Singapore, where Semantig Tech Pte. Ltd. is established, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top of the page changes with them. Continuing to use the app after a change means the new terms apply.
